Choosing the right projection screen is one of the most important decisions in a home theater build. The screen determines image quality far more than most projectors do.
A common rule: the screen width should be about half the viewing distance. For a 4 metre viewing distance, aim for a 100–110 inch screen (roughly 2 metres wide).
Most modern content is 16:9. If you watch classic films or cinemascope content, a 2.35:1 screen with anamorphic lens gives a true cinema experience.
Higher gain means brighter image but narrower viewing angle. For a dark room with a seating area directly in front, 1.0 matte white is ideal. For a bright lounge, choose ALR with 2.0+ gain.
Fixed frame screens are more affordable and offer the flattest surface. Electric screens suit rooms where the screen needs to disappear when not in use.
